Expanding your Niche

If you’re a  content creator with a specific niche, you’ve likely already created a unique nook of the ‘net where your fans can also connect around that niche of yours. Whether it’s a certain gaming genre, a fashion style, or something totally unique like collecting watch straps, your server is a space all your own. While your niche serves as a starting point for structuring your Discord server’s channels, you can also use your server as a space to expand and explore related or completely new interests!.

When setting up your new Discord server, your channels serve as conversation spaces for your members to gather. It’s common for community leaders to set up their server’s first channels to align with your existing interests. For example, if you’re a fashion creator, your initial launch of your Discord community might include channels for #thrift-lovers or a channel for #deals-and-discounts.

Your new Discord server will soon be full of unique individuals, and no one likes literally one single thing. Should your community start to form or share interests outside of your initial subject but you still want to create space to hold the conversation,  your server can be the place! Just like you, the individuals in your Discord are multidimensional!

So go ahead! Share other sides of your unique self with your audience by creating new text channels dedicated to it, or cater to your community by starting up a Forum channel so the community can bring up the topics *they* want to discuss. Giving your server members an opportunity to see you, and themselves, in new ways can help them feel even more connected to both you as a creator and the community you’ve fostered!

That Forum channel we mentioned? It can open up the opportunity for more than just small conversation: when the community constantly brings up certain subjects in the Forum channel, consider making it a dedicated Text channel outside of the Forum! Let’s say you’re a gaming creator, but somehow your server keeps talking about jazz music. To support your community, consider creating a channel for members to share their favorite songs, or bond over what instruments they play.

No matter what your interests may be, your community is a space for you to make content that reflects you and bring your audience closer than ever before! For more pro tips on creating the perfect Discord server for your audience, take a peek at the articles below:
